can i use a fish tank heater instead of a lamp to use to hatch triops?
Hi, I just bought a brand new 10 gallon glass fish tank from Petco and i am planning on raising Triops Longicaudatus in it.
The tank itself is pretty dusty, inside and out. I think it is because it was just in the store for a long amount of time.
How can I clean out this tank so i can begin assembling the tank?
Can I just rinse the tank out with tapwater and wipe it dry with some paper towels? or is that a bad idea?
I used to have a fish tank that’s really dirty, like for months. The fishes were all gold fishes if i remembered it correctly. When i took a look in the fish tank, i see this little moving thing that looks/shapes like a triops cancriformis in the pile of poops. Anyone knows what it is? I’ve been wondering what it was for years.
The only living things in there are a few gold fishes, what else can sprout out of that fish tank?
I have a 5 gal. fish tank I keep triops in. I recently changed from rocks to sand since they like to dig. I used some construction grade sand that I sifted and cleaned before using. Seems to be fine and the triops like it. Anyway, this morning I was looking in the tank and saw a little red worm come about half way out of the sand and snag something (food?), then it went back into the sand. I stirred the sand up where I saw it to see if I could see it again, but no luck.
Anyone know what it is?
ok i have tried to hatch and raise aquasaurs (triops) i successfully hatched and raised 6 only for them to die, it says on all the sale websites of these all you need is a lamp over the tanks to keep the water raised between 70 to 80 degrees, which means leaving on all the time i suppose, i had a glass tank with a water heater in that you can get for tropical fish, as the lamp was not keeping the water a steady temaperature it would raise when heating was on in the house and drop over night. i used bottled water as suggested, on asking some aquatic centres they say they only live about a couple of weeks, others say up to 90 days. i have read these are easy to keep, it was hard work and quite expensive for heaters and water ect. i now have guppies in my fish tank by the way when i gave up but i would like to try again
