Transcript: This individual has seen better days, but she still has some life in her. She’s recently moulted, which is why the speckle pattern on her carapace is particularly vivid, and more of a blue-grey than the usual brown. As the carapace matures, it will turn brown and the speckles will become less apparent.

I pull a feral triop out of the water to observe it’s alien appendages. These triops are some of the oldest living species of animal in the world. Fossils show these crustaceans have changed very little over the past 70 million years. They live in little pools of water on top of desert mesas. Their eggs are sand grain sized crystals that can last (theoretically) forever. They have a third eye on their underside. No Triops were harmed in the making of this video.

Hey, my sister has to do a report on a Triops Longicaudatus. (This is the scientific name.) It is also known as an aquasaur, longtail tadpole shrimp, American tadpole shrimp, or rice tadpole shrimp. While she has been able to find all the information she needs, she cannot find the weight of the thing.
Thanks in advance for all the help, we look forward to reading your answers.

I just got a triops growing kit,it came with some food, but this food wont last forever,so I would like to know what to feed them, and when to introduce food to them. These are very fragile creatures, but so intersting,I would like to keep them alive as long as possible. They usually live only a max of about 2 months anyway, but I dont want to kill them before their time.
