Triops

Triops are a three-eyed form of hard-shelled shrimp that have barely evolved in the last 70 million years, and are commonly referred to as living fossils. They are available as Sea Monkey-esque pets. I would recommend it if you enjoy growing creepy things. Unnecessary backstory: The directions advise that you only grow half of the eggs just in case you screw up the first time, and not to add the eggs later because the matured triops will eat them. This was not just true of the eggs; the single triops in the rounded jar ate all of the other specimens in the first batch. It was removed and the rest of the eggs were added. This out-of-focus video was shot somewhere around the end of that week during feeding. Soon after, the older lone triops developed a horrific growth and ceased to be. Soon after that, the larger of the two younger triops was found floating in the tank half-devoured. The last triops died days later. That last week was a horrific freakshow, but look at how cute they were here! Music: DJ TAKA – Blueberry Stream

Is an aqarium heater ok to place in the Triops container that came with the kit?

I purchased the Triassic Triops Deluxe kit.
The heater would assure the right temp. for the Triops, as I don’t have a lamp. The only thing I have is a 5 gallon aquarium and it has the growing light in the hood, and it’s next to my computer monitor. Would both be sufficient lighting for the Triops to grow, and food value (algae) wise?
The kit comes with food. I read they also need the algae as well.

can i transfer my triassic triops to a larger tank without killing them?

they are just babies now, but when they get bigger i would like to give them more room. any tips?

Triops, what shal I do?

On tuesday my triassic triops arrived. I set them up that night and they hatched the next day. I hve been feeding them, but now I am down to one lol.

In the instructions it says “at first only pour 1 litre of spring water into your triops tank or they will not hatch or grow.”

But now my triops is getting nearly to adult size, do I fill the rest of my tank up wih spring water, will this shock my triops and will it wreck my nutrients tea bag thing…?

Hatching Triops Eggs – A Reliable Method.wmv

Hatching Triops Eggs step by step. This is the most reliable method I’ve used so far for hatching triops. Basically you hatch the triops eggs in a small hatchery container first, then after a week or so move them over to the final tank. That way you can control the temperature easier if you are using a lamp, and also the baby triops can find their food faster and grow quicker. ***Hatching Temperatures + Feeding Guide*** www.triopsguys.com *****************************************
