My triops are about 10 days old in this video, which shows their THIRD feeding today. These dudes can eat!

Triops are very flexible in their feeding behaviour, and will scrape algae from rocks and other surfaces.

This one is one week old. I ordered official replacement Triops eggs and grew them in a water bottle. Many hatched but only 1 survived so I transferred it to a larger food container and added some water. =] Song: Final Fantasy IV – Piano Collections : Welcome to Our Town by Nobuo Uematsu

Triops swimming around in my hatching tank. These are Black Beauty sp. Triops that I hatched from eggs last week. They grow very quickly, the first couple days they were about the size of a few grains of sand! Now the triops are starting to turn a darker color, they were pale-white the first couple days. Black Beauty Triops need a higher temperature then most other species, I keep the water around 82 F. I’m feeding them some shrimp pellets, and also some stale crackers, though you can pretty much feed triops anything organic. For more info on how I hatched them + pics you can visit www.triopsguys.com. Thanks for watching! If you have any questions just leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer them. Generally they are the same as other species of triops though.

I bought a triops kit for the first time a week ago and only three hatched. One of them died and the other was subject to cannibalism. I read that they lay eggs every day. If so, when my single triops reaches full maturity, can a place him in a small container for a day or so to lay eggs? I don’t want to go the the wonderful project of getting eggs out of my tank substrate… can’t I just collect a bunch of them in a small container and the dry them out?
