Can I use something other than spring water for my triops?

I have some triop eggs that I want to hatch. Well I read that you need spring or bottled water to put them in. I don’t have any but I really want to hatch them to show to my friend. Can I hatche them in anything else safely?

  1. To be honest, tap water should be fine as long as you add the dechlorinator thing. I tried it myself.

  3. If you can’t get distilled or spring water, your next best choice is rainwater. You could try dechlorinated tap water as a last resort, but the chances of them hatching is much lower this way. Triops eggs use the “purity” of the water as a trigger to hatch. That’s why you’ll have a better chance with distilled and spring water, which are very low in minerals and dissolved solids, then you would with tap water.
