  1. They’re actually quite easy. Hatch eggs in spring water (no other water will hacth eggs), at correct temperature, 23 – 27 degrees celsius (must be at correct temp before you put eggs in). If in cold weather, need a small desk lamp about 20cm from tank to keep water at temperature, left on 24 hours a day. Try to leave tank somewhere were it’ll get natural light as well. If in warm weather only need lamp on 12 hours a day. Put foil over part of tank to allow them a shady area to rest. Once hatched feed a little crushed food every day until about 1 cm big, then feed one crushed pellet per triop per day. After about 1 week, they’ll need to eat 2 -3 times a day. After 10 days you need to clean tank. Pour about 1 third of old water out, careful not to pour out triops. Then carefully clean out stuff on bottom of tank. Add new spring water. Repeat process every 2 to 3 days. They’re quite cool to watch eating when they’re bigger. They swim upside down backwards. Pretty interesting.

  2. They come with instructions?

But perhaps you lost them. So you know Triops dont live very long, so even with the best care they will still perish.

You need a soap residue free glass or plastic container for starters at least one gallon for one packet of triops, but of course bigger is ALWAYS better.

You MUST NOT use city or clorinated water. Distilled water is the best choice for these critters.

You can leave the container barren, or you may choose to use a fish safe gravel for decoration, but know that if you choose to use gravel cleaning will become much more difficult since your not using a filter you’ll have to hand change the water every couple of days. If you have a small syringe you can suck out the yuck and go a little longer between water changes.

If you choose to add plants, know that the triops will eat them! So dont put your prized Anubis in the tank:)

They will need light to stimulate hatching, otherwise they might think they are still buried and remain dormant.

You can use the sunlight, or if your using an aquarium, the tank hood lights will suffice for this. (If you are using bigger than one gallon, I wouldnt fill it all the way up at first. The packet comes with ingredients to stimulate a pond environment and more water will only dilute this mixture)

Now you’ve done all this.. and you FINALLY get some hatchlings! Dont feed them for the first three days of life, the packet also contained food for little baby triops. After three days you can introduce things like, dried yeast, the food that came with them, crushed. Crushed fish food. DO NOT OVERFEED!!! As they grow you can add in tubiflex worms, brine shrimp for a varied diet. Tetra Min flake food, seems to be the highest recommended.

Feed them twice a day, Just a little bit! You dont want too much food to mess up the balance of your water.

You will need to remove the shedded skins, and be careful when you clean not to remove the eggs on the bottom, and possibly in the ‘muck’

This should get you through the life cycle but if you have any more quesions please visit this website.
