  1. Whatever you do, don’t put a lot of food in their cages and leave. They won’t eat all that food at once, and the uneaten food will rot and poison the water, killing your animals.

They should be fine for a week without eating. Just feed them a normal daily amount on the day you leave, and feed them a normal daily amount again the day you get back.

  2. I have never owned either, but if you are going for no more then a week, I would imagine most would be good with the normal feeding before you leave. If you add a lot of food to the tank and it doesn’t get eaten, it will just rot and foul the water. This would create a worse situation then not eating for a week, IMO.

  3. Triops fatten them up before you go, then add a bit more food as you leave. Don’t forget the water. They are going to survive. Sea monkeys are brine shrimp, again feed well keep the water right until you go and hope for the best.

Fatten those triops up. They’re cannibalistic, so don’t be surprised if you’re missing some when you come back.

I’d put the brine shrimp in the fridge to slow the metabolism. They’re small, and run out of energy pretty quickly. At least, that’s how I keep them before I feed them to my fish.

  6. The thing about sticking food in their tanks is that it will rot. If your tank allows, then I suggest getting a plant. Then you won’t have to worry about feeding them as often because they have a food supply that they are able to count on.

If not, then see if one of your friends would be able to drop by your house once, or twice a day to feed them. They truly don’t need somebody to be around there all the time, and they will be able to survive being fed twice a day.
