Cool, your taking great care of them! Remember that that pleco will grow over a foot long and need a 55gal tank someday! Also feed him alage pellets because the alagae growing in the tank isn’t enough food.

Some species of plecos don’t grow over a few inches, I believe mine is one of those. I feed algae waffers to the pleco, both floating and sinking (mostly sinking) pellets to the triops, and the snails gets leftover food

No that’s definatly the common pleco (Scientific name is Hypostamus Plecostamus) who does grow big. Also, is that tank heated?

So overfeeding is bad? I never knew that.. I gotta get a water cleaner thing. Also when I was at a site it said “foreign objects are bad for your triops.” well since I saw foreign stuff AND also a different specie… I guess I can use my stuff. YAY

I’ll just sell the pleco back to the store when it gets big lol, and get another small one. The tank is heated using a 25watt heater, day temp 24′C, night 22′C

Foreign stuff are bad if they’re any foreign object. I think foreign objects are bad for triop eggs and/or baby triops since they have a rather strict hatching requirement.

Q:
What are Triops?
A:
They are small freshwater shrimp that grow from tiny eggs that you can buy from most Pet or Toy shops. They are often called Tadpole or Shield Shrimp.
Scientific name is Triops longicaudatus (TRY-OPS LON-GA-CAW-DA-TUS), by far the most common species you’ll find on sale in shops as they come from America. Triops cancriformis (TRY-OPS CAN-RIFF-FORM-IS) comes from Europe and grows larger and lives longest!

When your triops all die, put your pleco and snails in a temporary tank and dry this one out. Rehydrate it with distilled water and you’ll have a whole new generation of triops. In fact sometimes my rehydration efforts yielded 20-30 nauplii!

I’m attempting something like this, but i don’t have the divider glass or a filer or anything like that. where could i go to buy these supplies. My triops are just in a 5gal tank with gravel by themselves and the water get really dirty. They live well, but I just want my tank to look better and be able to support other tank mates.
