I think people like these bacause they look like miniature horseshoe crabs or something prehistoric.

They don't live that long (about 50-60 days depending on the species in the kit), but they'll normally lay eggs before they die which you can hatch if you prepare them properly. Here are a few websites you can read over to get info on them:

Only you can decide if you think they're worth it, but they do make an unusual pet.

triops are relitives of the dinosaurs so people think there awesome but the avg. life span is only 27 days but they are pretty cool I paid $2 for my triops. my triops did not mate and secial requirements must be met inorder for them to mate but this is very hard
