I bought some Triops on eBay, and I don’t know what a good size habitat for them is. I was planning on buying one from a Pet store.
The container is perfect except that I’m not sure the size is enough. Everyone says the depth isn’t nearly as important as the length and width.
It’s 6″x9.2″x6.6″ (6 liters) (4.6 Square feet)
Is that big enough?
Also, if that’s too big (or bigger than it needs to be) how about:
4.4″x7.13″x5.5″ (2.8 liters) (2.6 square feet)
UPDATE;
I just read some guides, and most say to add NO MORE than a liter of water. If I got with the larger container, I could only fill it a little over one inch of water at the MOST, which seems too shallow to me. Thoughts?
If you think I should hatch them in a small container (like a cup), and then transplant them, when do I move them, and to which container? Most guides say wait until Day 8 (when they are big enough to move), what do you think?
Also, should they be moved to the bigger container of the two I listed?
We sometimes hatch them out in clear plastic drink cups with a couple inches, 3-4 cm, of water and a bit of sand, then move them to partly filled ten gallon aquariums for growth and breeding, sorting them out from other hatching animals such as clam shrimp and fairy shrimp, and in Triops species with sexes, picking out pairs for breeding. Container size is not important for hatching, but for feeding, growth, and laying eggs, larger containers will be needed.

this is the most awesome triops website I’ve ever found. I’m going to link you into their “containers” section.
http://mytriops.com/articles/containers.stm
Then they have a hatchling guide http://mytriops.com/articles/quick_setup.stm for good set-up and container temperatures to keep the eggs and hatchlings at.
This whole website is loaded with info. If you’ve got some time I really suggesting combing through it and learning all you can. It got me interested in triops again. Now if only I could find my kit . . .

EDT: The my triops site recommends 2 liters per adult. I would probably go with the bigger tank if you’ve got the space for it.
Know anything about freshwater scuds?
